Art Exhibit and Welcome
Wednesday, July 18th 6:00 PM
Join us as we unveil the Summer Institute’s art exhibited curated by Chicana and Chicano Studies graduate student Cristina Serna. The reception will take place at the UCSB campus in the Multicultural Center lounge.
The exhibit is open to the public and will run from the evening of Wednesday, July 18th through Saturday, July 21 at 3:00 PM.
Vendor Fair
Thursday, July 19th-Saturday, July 21st 12:00-5:00 PM
Invest in local artists and look good doing it. The Summer Institute will host a three day vendor fair with artists, writers, and fashion designers selling original work. The fair will be held on the UCSB campus at Storke Plaza near the University Center.

Noche de Cultura

Calling all poets, spoken word artists, singers, and comics. This summer’s Noche de Cultura will be held at Del Pueblo Café. Featured artists to be announced soon.
Tortuga Awards

The Tortuga Awards are given to national and local activists who work towards the support, education and dissemination of Chicana/Latina & Native American women’s issues.
This year’s Summer Institute Tortuga Awards Banquet will be held at Casa de La Raza, a local community center downtown Santa Barbara. There will be an opening reception, followed by dinner and dancing. Food will be catered by local chef, Sebastian Aldana, Jr. of Sebastian’s Gourmet Salsas. The cost of the dinner is included in the registration fee. If you would like additional banquet tickets please email the site committee by July 10,2012 at malcs2012ucsb@gmail.com. Additional tickets are $25.00.
